Description:

This archeological site is 34 km (30 minutos) from Puno on the paved highway to Juliaca. It contains the famous CHULLPAS, round burial towers built of stone some standing as tall as 12m (39ft). They were used by the Collas and later by the Incas. Lake Umayo, is from of the archeological site, only adds to the beauty of the Place, especially at sunrise. In the vicinity you can also see some waru waru, the artificial hillocks of earth designed for protecting crops from frost and floods.
Sillustani is also a good place to observe wild guinea pigs, birds and other wildlife of the high Andes.

Day 1

ITINERARY

We can visit can sillustani in the morning or afternoon, we will pick you up from your hotel to take the bus that will take us until Sillustani. We take a trip approximately 40 minutes, after arriving the Archaeological Complex of Sillustani, we take to walk about 1hours and half to see the different chullpas of Sillustani or funeral tower that rise up to 12 meters high and belongs to pre-inca and inca culture. These towers are located on a small peninsula surrounded by the Umayo lagoon where we can appreciate it`s natural beauty as well architecture and engineering of the time. Finally, we return to Puno and transfer to the hotel.
