Ausangate is situated in the Cordillera Vilcanota in the department of Cusco, It is one of the most remote high Andean zones of Peru and offers a spectacular trekking circuit along snowcapped around this mystical mountain. Of course, we will also experience the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain and red Mountain valley – one of the most beautiful and timeless, natural landscapes in all South America and the world.

Tour planning:

Day 1

Cusco – Tinki - Upis

We will pick you up from your hotel at 05:00 AM, travelling approximately 2 hours and 30min by bus to the village of Tinki. Tinki is located near Ocongate at 3900 m.a.s.l. It is here you will meet your horsemen and horses. Then we will start out trek of 3 to 4 hour gradual uphill hike until we reach our lunch area. Along the way we will have amazing views of Ausangate, still far in the distance from where we will ultimately be. After lunch it will be another 2 hours hike until we reach our campsite at Upis Alto near the famous hot spring. (L.D.)

Day 2

Upis – Qomercocha Lake

After an early breakfast, we will prepare for the second day of the hike. Our hike begin ascending for two hours to reach the Arapa pass (4850 m.a.s.l.) we then descend to our lunch place, crossing an area of vizcachas or Andean rodents. This area also boasts three beautiful lakes with tones of reds, greens, and turquoises, we begin our trekking for two and a half hours to reach Lake Qomerocha or green lake where we will spend the night. Day 3

Qomercocha Lake - Pacchanta

This day after enjoying our warm breakfast we continue our journey and going to Jampa Pass (5200 m.a.s.l.) this trail is very moderate and quiet, enjoying another day of scenic beautifull and wildlife of the area, enjoying views, we will descend for 3 hours to reach Pacchanta where we will have thermal baths in our camp. Day 4

Pacchanta – Tinki - Cusco

After breakfast, we take a short hike, we will continue and enjoy the magnificent scenery with a view of Ausangate Mountain. Walking in the opposite direction to us. After lunch in Tinki our driver takes us back to Cusco. (B.L.)
