Tour planning:
Cusco - Cachora – Chiquisca
We will leave Cusco early in the morning at about 5:30 am. Then we will begin our journey to the village of Cachora, a nice place surrounded by beautiful mountains and the majestic glacier Padreyoc (5571 m.a.s.l.). In the place, we will have lunch with a panoramic view of Apurimac Valley. After having passed the overlooking Capuliyoc (2800 m.a.s.l), we will continue descending to our campsite called Chiquisca (1930 m.a.s.l.) (L.D.)
Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina - Marampata – Choquequirao
After breakfast, and then continue our walk descend to La Playa Rosalina (1550 m.a.s.l.) and the climb up to the village of Marampata (2850 m.a.s.l.) from here, we will have a nice view of the archeological complex of Choquequirao (3033 m.a.s.l.) we will have 3 hours for climbing up our camping site in Choquequirao. Choquequirao – Rio Blanco
Very early, we will explore this archeological site, the liturgic fountains, the temple of the high priest, the section of the llamas and the Ushnu. Our trek continues towards the pass of Choquequirao (3270 m.a.s.l.) and passes the archeological site of Pinchaunuyoc (2450 m.a.s.l.). Finally to descend to the Rio Blanco (1900 m.a.s.l.) where our camping site is situated. (B.L.D.)
Rio Blanco – Maizal - Yanama
After breakfast, we will continue the climb up to Victoria pass (3900 m.a.s.l.) this day is both the most ardous and the most spectacular one. In Maizal (3000 m.a.s.l.) we will have a short break to catch some breath and to enjoy the view of the beautiful landscape. Since the Inca Trail in this region is not in good conditions during the rainy season, then we will descend to the community of Yanama, where you spend the night. (B.L.D.)
Yanama – Totora
After an early breakfast, we will start hiking uphill to the highest pass in this trek, named yanama pass (4700 m.a.s.l.). Again the view will be amazing from here we will be surrounded by snowcapped mountain: Saqsarayoc mountain and Pedreyoc mountain, and then, we will descend and cross small communities and reach the 5th reeds, here will be our camp. Totora – La Playa
After breakfast, we leave very early in the morning, following the Totora River towards the point where it meets the Chalan River, you will walk through tropical valley where we can find coffee plantations, banana trees and a blend flora and fauna. We will get to la Playa community, where we set up camp. (B.L.D.)
La Playa – Llaqtapata - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes
Early in the morning after our breakfast, we will start ascend about 2-3 hours up to el Mirador or Abra Qelloqasa (2860 m.a.s.l.) from where we have exceptional views of Machu Picchu, finally we get to Llaptapata a beautiful archeological site which has connections to the Inca site, Machu Picchu and Sayacmarka. Then we will start to descend for 2 hours towards the Aobamba River crossing lush bamboo forest and coffee plantations bring us to the Hidroelectrica. We serve lunch, we will continue to walk for 3 hours to Aguas Calientes where we will stay in the hotel for the night. (B.L.D.)
Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Cusco
After the Breakfast we will take bus to Machu Picchu sanctuary arriving there. We will enjoy a guided tour for 2 hours. After that, we will have the opportunity to freely explore the wonderful lost city of the Incas. After our visit we will go back to Aguas Calientes, where we can enjoy a relaxing bath at the local hot spring. In the afternoon we will take the train back to Cusco. (B.)
